The Government of Chhattisgarh inaugurated the government college of Bhanpuri on09.08.2008 with the motive of promoting higher education in this area. During its establishment, govt. college of Bhanpuri started its classes of part-1 of science, arts & commerce in the building of Janpad Primary School,Karandola (Bhanpuri) with only one assistant professor & a lab technician.It is located on the shore of national highway no. 30, about 40 kms to the north of district headquarter Jagdalpur. Inauguration of this college provided an opportunity to the poor, hard working groups like Sc, St, Obc & especially the youth of remote areas who were deprived of education for generations. The college proved to be a milestone in the field of higher education. Presently, the newly constructed building of govt. college Bhanpuriis situated in village Besoli, about 2.5 kms to the west of Pharsaguda. The college campus is spread over 15.50 acres with public stadium for sports &other activities. The college building has 11 lecture halls, 04 laboratory, 01principal room, 01 office room, 01 library hall, 01 NSS room & a girl’s common room is available.

    The government college of Bhanpuri was affiliated to Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University in 2008-09. Later, it was linked to Bastar Vishwavidyalaya now known as Shaheed Mahendra Karma University. Our college is suitable and energetic for academic and extra-curricular activities only because of the college is situated in rural system which is covered with lush green forest.   Since its inception the college has BA with compulsory subjects Hindi Language and English Language & optional subject Political Science, Sociology, English Literature & Hindi Literature. Also,it has B.Sc. faulty with compulsory subjects English & Hindi Language and optional subjects Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics & Mathematics in two groups and other faculty of commerce was introduced. Two master programs M.A.in Sociology & M.Sc. in Chemistry have been started in 2017-18. During its inception, 138 students in BA, 12 students in B.Sc. & 03 students in B.Com.had taken admission in this college. At present session 2021-22, number of students increased up to 764, most of which belongs to remote & tribal area. This college provides higher education to the youth of all class &groups & will ensure to reach the education at last segment & compile its duty.
